3 Year Old Program
By now, you child's thinking skills are in high gear and many times this is when they begin to ask "why" and their interest in books starts to grow. They will learn terms such as author and illustrator while being able to identify what happens next. Letters will start to have meaning and uppercase letter recognition begins and leads into recognizing and identifying their own name. Imagination increases through pretend play. Math skill levels will increase with more complex manipulatives, opposites, matching, sorting, counting to higher numbers and simple patterns. Science and social studies activities will focus on senses, weather facts, magnets, animals (where and how they live), our community and safety. During art, they will be able to create through free expression and some teacher guidance. Music continues with singing, dancing and introduction to musical instruments.
4 Year Old Program
Our goal in this program is to prepare your child for their next phase of higher learning, kindergarten. During this time, we focus on cooperation and resolving conflicts. We will continue to build self-esteem while influencing self-control and independence. Fine motor skills will increase with proper use of scissors, crayons and pencils and practicing their writing of proper formations of shapes and letters. Gross motor skills will be enhanced with more controlled movements with running, jumping and balance. Language and Literacy include uppercase and lowercase letter recognition, letter and sound correspondence, beginning sight words and rhyming. Math continues with high counting, one to one relations with concrete objects, grouping, sequencing and graphing. Science and social studies will include community helpers, introduction to geography and different cultures and general safety guidelines to include stranger danger. We will also offer simple cooking from time to time. As they use more materials for art, they continue to develop creativity and free expression. Music is a part of every program for singing and dancing and also creating music with simple instruments.
2 Year Old Program
As your toddler grows, they begin to discover who they are and the world around them. As they move through the early learning process, their thinking skills have already started to develop. However, it is the beginning of learning social skills. During this time, they will learn about sharing, manners, cleaning up and participating in a group. Other areas of focus for our 2 year olds are refining their grasp, building strength in gross motor skills, developing language and beginning logic thinking with math. Math may include colors, basic shapes, numbers and counting. They begin to learn about science and social studies such as family, weather, animals and transportation. Creativity starts to develop through art and music.
